Muck Pile

Attention Barn Volunteers!

Woodchips were accidentally and unknowingly dumped in the muck pile behind the Critical Care Barn. This is a problem for the mushroom farmer who picks up our muck for free, as he will not take it if it has materials other than straw or manure in the pile (ie - woodchips, branches, etc). Woodchips and other materials will raise the acidity level of the fertilizer and effectively inhibit the growth of his mushrooms. Therefore:

Any woodchips or other natural debris need to be taken to the old woodchip pile at the top of the hill (follow driveway around muck pile to top of hill).

We are currently in the process of separating the woodchips from the rest of the muck pile and have started dumping new muck on the left side of the muck pit as you walk in.

Please be sure to dump your old straw and manure to the left side of the pit until further instructed. And please remember to dump your woodchips at the top of the hill.

We apologize for the complications and thank you for your cooperation!
