Oleander update

Posted by Brittney Carow on August 3, 2009 at 10:02 PM

Oleander is back home and doing well. Her eye was sutured at the clinic and it appears that the fluid in the eye has replenished itself back to its normal amount. The vet came out to the farm today to assess her progress and was pleased with what he saw, saying it already looked better than how it looked on Saturday when she left the clinic. There is a lot of scarring and fibren in the eye, but a lot of it is fluid and free-floating, so the vet is hoping some of it might eventually clear up. Either way, it appears her vision is going to be limited, but at this point we don't know how much. She is currently on round-the-clock care and monitoring, receiving treatment ever 4 hours. The interns have been getting up at midnight and 4am to administer her meds. She is receiving multiple eye medications, as well as antibiotics and anti-inflammatories.
