Posted by defhrhorses on June 8, 2012 at 2:20 PM

Days End Farm Horse Rescue’s is proud to announce our 1st annual trainer challenge, which is set to take place during our annual Fall Festival Open House on September 29, 2012. This year’s focus will be our population of un-started Polish Arabian geldings. This is a fantastic opportunity for trainers to showcase their skills with these impressive, incredibly intelligent and beautiful horses. If you are interested in participating in the challenge you’ll need to act fast! There are only a few horses are left to be assigned.

Horses may start leaving for their trainers any time after Saturday, June 9th, to give them time to settle into their new surroundings. The official training starts on June 30th and will last for 90 days. The trainer challenge culminates on Saturday, September 29th where all the horses will come back to Days End to show off what they have learned in front of the 1500+ guests that annually attend the Fall Festival. Participants will be judged on improvement from initial assessment, condition of the horse, an obstacle course, and a freestyle performance. Prizes are in the works and will be announced soon, but let’s be honest, the biggest reward will be seeing how far these horses can go!

If you are interested in participating in the challenge please email trainer@defhr.org. Be sure to look out for updates from each of the trainers on each horse’s progress over the summer months on www.defhr.org or our Facebook page.

** Trainers must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have experience with training horses on the ground and under saddle
  • Be willing to meet with our Staff Trainer prior to taking a horse
  • Be willing to have their farm inspected if we have not dealt with them in the recent past
  • Allow a scheduled visit with the horse while at the training facility if requested
