The vet came today to reassess how Layla and ZuZu are healing.

Layla's toe crack, which we have been dealing with for a couple of years now, was debrided a few weeks back of all infection and unhealthy tissue. Our job these past few weeks was to keep it packed, wrapped, and clean in order to allow new, healthy hoof tissue to grow back in its place. The vet was very happy with her progress today and we will continue the same treatment for the next few weeks until she is ready for another check-up.

ZuZu's pastern was x-rayed again to check for progress. Unfortunately, the fracture is much worse than we originally thought. He will be on stall rest for at least another 5 months and will most likely end up being only pasture-sound once he is fully healed. Though sad about his prognosis, we are confident that we'll still be able to find him a loving home as a companion.
