JUNIOR HORSE RESCUE CLUB
________________________________________________________________________________
Days End Farm's Junior Horse Rescue Club (JHRC) is a venue for our youth volunteers (under 18 years of age) to get involved and learn about various horse-related topics. Some of the topics include:
Husbandry, health, wound care, wraps, nutrition, dentistry, parasites/deworming, diseases/vaccinations, grooming, training, neglect/abuse, rescue, rehabilitation, re-homing, and much more.
JHRC is a great way for young volunteers to gain experience as well as make friends along the way. The club is open to all volunteers who have completed Volunteer Orientation.
Over the summer, JHRC will meet almost daily in the form of afternoon volunteer activities (ie - games, contests, quizzes, movies, and other educational activities focused on horses).
** Monthly JHRC meetings will resume in September **

We had a great discussion at this month's meeting about equine diseases and vaccinations. The common diseases that we vaccinate for here at Days End Farm were reviewed. A second diseases lecture may be held in the near future, as there are too many to go over in one meeting! Great questions were asked by the JHRC members and a lot was learned.
Thank you to those who attended and didn't let the rain keep them away!
We ended up having 12 volunteers show up for this month's meeting - thanks for the turnout!
Now that we are on a set schedule we look forward to planning some great meetings. Breeds and Markings was the focus of this meeting. A game was played where club members had to identify different horses just by a marking that they each had - there was a 4-way tie! Congrats to those that won and thanks to all who attended.
